Job Title: SHEQ Advisor
Reporting to: SHEQ Manager
Business Unit: Ireland
Role Purpose
Omexom Ireland’s Business Unit (BU) requires a SHEQ Advisor to support and enhance project delivery standards across Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHEQ). Reporting directly to the BU SHEQ Manager, the SHEQ Advisor will ensure that all Omexom projects maintain high levels of SHEQ performance and compliance.
The role involves advising project teams on all SHEQ-related matters, supporting continuous improvement, and reinforcing Omexom’s commitment to operational excellence across project sites.
Responsibilities & Duties
(Including but not limited to the following)
Safety Management & Compliance
Develop, implement, and monitor safety policies, procedures, and practices aligned with Omexom standards and Irish regulations.
Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and inspections across sites in the Republic of Ireland.
Ensure compliance with Irish health and safety legislation, statutory requirements, codes of practice, and relevant guidelines.
Develop and compile Safety Files for multiple projects within required timeframes.
Attend site-based client meetings when required.
Incident Investigation & Reporting
Lead investigations into incidents, near misses, and accidents to identify root causes and corrective actions.
Maintain accurate safety records, including incident reports and corrective action logs.
Prepare SHEQ performance reports for senior management and recommend improvements.
Risk Assessment & Hazard Control
Conduct risk assessments and recommend control measures to mitigate identified risks.
Advise on PPE requirements, safe working practices, and emergency procedures.
Work with engineers and project managers to implement risk mitigation strategies for energy and infrastructure projects.
Training & Development
Support delivery of training relating to Omexom safety procedures and practices.
Provide onsite safety training including inductions, toolbox talks, and refresher courses.
Identify training needs and coordinate ongoing safety development programmes.
Maintain complete training records and ensure site personnel understand their SHEQ responsibilities.
Promoting a Safety Culture
Promote a positive safety culture and continuous improvement across the organisation.
Act as a visible safety leader on-site, encouraging proactive behaviours and well-being.
Engage with site teams to reinforce safe practices and provide practical guidance.
Emergency Preparedness
Coordinate emergency response planning and drills to ensure readiness for incidents.
Assist in developing project-specific emergency response procedures.
Ensure personnel understand emergency protocols and maintain emergency equipment.
Additional Responsibilities
Coordinate COSHH, Calibration, and Inspection databases.
Organise and conduct PAT testing activities.
Support statutory inspections of BU equipment and tools.
Assist with SHEQ inputs for PQQs and tender submissions.
Support the SHEQ Manager with additional duties as required.
Assist in completing quality and environmental reports.
Conduct Environmental and Quality audits.
